Education

Over $1 million is given annually by the DAR to support five schools founded to provide educational opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable to the populations they serve. The DAR Schools provide a variety of special needs programs that address problems such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia, adult literacy, and children in family crisis.

As a chapter, we are also dedicated to the education and support of students in our community.  The Sophia Fleming Chapter offers a number of scholarship opportunities throughout the year.  Our chapter awards more than one thousand dollar each year to Clay County students through essay contests and scholarships.

Historical Preservation

Our chapter is dedicated to historical preservation by supporting the efforts to rehabilitate and maintain our nation's historical treasures, commemoratives, and memorials. The Sophia Fleming Chapter supports local preservation efforts in the Jacksonville area through volunteerism, donations, and grants.
